WDC opens a stall in the exhibition organized for Perahara season at KCC



Women’s Development Centre has opened a stall (from 25th July, 2012 to 02nd of August, 2012) in the exhibition organized for Perahara season at Kandy City Centre. The main aim of opening this stall is to promote the products made by the disabled children at Ampitiya Vocational Training Centre, women entrepreneurs from our Community Development section and other girl children at Haragama Shelter. 

Various products including hand-loom sarees, pillow cases, cushion cases, wooden fancy goods can be bought if you visit our stall in Kandy. Not only you will be able to buy quality products from our stall, but also you will be able to contribute in some way for our disabled children as well as other girl children at Haragama shelter who are striving to improve their standard of life.

In addition, you will also be able to receive other benefits by visiting WDC stall since various awareness programs are arranged for the public. Awareness on HIV/AIDS, information on family counseling services and legal aid provided by WDC and information on causes of disability, etc. could be received if you visit the stall. So visit our WDC stall at KCC, enjoy the various items arranged by us and thereby contribute to the betterment of the whole society.

Sthree - A Woman's Initiative


sOn Tuesday, June 10th, 2007 the Women’d Development Centre (WDC) of Kandy opened its much anticipated sales outlet at 327 Peradeniya Road, next to Fashion Bug. The sales outlet is appropriately named ‘Sthree’ which means ‘Woman’ in both Sinhala and Tamil. The main purpose of the shop is to promote quality handcrafted items made primarily by Sri Lankan women.
